Job Description

Electrician IV – HS-6 $ 16.61 hour minimum Qualifications: High school diploma/GED required Valid Texas driver’s license with an acceptable driving record as determined by the Texas School Bus Driver’s requirements. Obtain Texas Commercial Driver’s Class B license with all appropriate endorsements within 90 days of employment Ability to speak, read, and understand the English language Ability to work at various heights and in various weather conditions Essential Functions: Perform assigned tasks with appropriate written records as required by department guidelines Provide prompt assistance to others for operation of personnel lift, bucket truck, wire pulling equipment and repair/replacement of electrical parts and equipment Comply with district policies Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor(s) Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job function Note: The selected candidate must complete an apprenticeship program within four years of employment. More information will be shared during the interview process. Electrician III – HS-8 $20.09 hour minimum Qualifications: High school diploma/GED required Valid Texas driver’s license to start and obtain Texas commercial driver’s Class B license with all appropriate endorsement within 90 days of employment Have a clear and acceptable driving record as determined by the Texas School Bus Driver’s requirements Ability to speak, read, and understand the English language Ability to work at various heights and in various weather conditions Must be enrolled in an apprenticeship school and working to obtain a State of Texas Journeyman Electrical License Minimum of two years of experience in the trade Possess working knowledge of electrical systems Ability to work from blue prints, schematics and specifications Ability to work flexible hours when necessary Essential functions: Perform all responsibilities of Electrician IV Operate bucket truck, personnel lift, ditch witch, wire pulling equipment Operate all tools common to trade Correctly measure voltage and amperage on various types of equipment Identify electrical parts, panels, controllers and motors for replacement and/or repair Repair minor electrical malfunctions in building electrical systems Install, repair and relocate all types of light fixtures Properly fill out work orders and turn in daily Work independently with limited direct supervision Select and order parts needed for department Prioritize, organize and complete paper work daily Notify Foreman of problem areas in electrical systems Maintain inventory of supplies Respond to emergency calls as needed Preform other duties as assigned by supervisor Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job function Electrician II – HS-9 $22.66 hour minimum Qualifications: High school diploma/GED required Valid Texas driver’s license to start and obtain Texas Commercial driver’s class B license with all appropriate endorsements and classifications and all other required licenses, permits and certificates within 90 days of employment Clear and acceptable driving record as determined by the Texas School Bus Driver’s requirements Current State of Texas Journeyman’s Electrician license Ability to speak, read, and understand the English language Ability to work at various heights and in various weather conditions Possess knowledge of codes and ordinances concerning electrical systems and written reference materials Minimum of five years of experience in the trade Ability to work flexible hours when necessary Essential functions: Perform all responsibilities of Electrician III and IV Account for truck, materials, time, tools and zone of buildings within the district Supervise and teach apprentices in skills needed to meet job requirements Construct, modify or install electrical components Relocate and expand electrical systems Troubleshoot and locate problems in electrical systems Coordinate work with other trades Estimate jobs Examine district facilities on a regular basis for preventive maintenance and safety Report unsafe conditions and practices which would possibly result in an occupational illness to staff or students Trace electrical lines to eliminate ground fault or problem wiring Locate, mark and identify underground utilities Train and assist others in repair and operation of electrical components and equipment Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job function Electrician I – HS-11 $27.90 hour minimum Qualifications: High school diploma/GED required Valid Texas driver’s license to start and obtain Texas Commercial driver’s class B license with all appropriate endorsements and classifications and all other required licenses, permits and certificates within 90 days of employment Clear and acceptable driving record as determined by the Texas School Bus Driver’s requirements Current State of Texas Journeyman’s Electrician license Ability to speak, read, and understand the English language Ability to work at various heights and in various weather conditions Possess working knowledge of codes and ordinances concerning electrical systems and written reference materials Ability to read, comprehend and edit specifications and read blueprints, schematics and written reference materials Minimum six years of experience required Ability to work flexible hours when necessary Ability to layout all phases of electrical work Essential Functions: Perform all responsibilities of Electrician II, III and IV Troubleshoot and repair all types of electrical systems Construct, modify and install electrical systems and equipment Estimate, organize, install and oversee building modifications, repairs and material needed for departments Secure and restart building equipment properly in the event of equipment failure Maintain necessary records to complete jobs in a timely manner Update Foreman on progress of building modifications and work orders Train and supervise other department staff Meet with manufacturer’s representatives and vendors to resolve problems associated with products Meet with architectural consultants on new or existing facilities Diagnose and resolve problems in electrical circuits, systems and equipment using testing instruments and equipment Repair or recommend replacement of electrical appliances, including commercial ovens, ranges, steam tables, washers, dryers etc. Detect needed repairs on building, grounds and equipment following established inspection procedures Work with building principals and supervisors to complete projects Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job function Physical Demands/Working Conditions for all Electrician positions: Must be able to lift and carry 75 pounds Continual walking, standing, climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching, heavy lifting and carrying Ability to work in tiring and uncomfortable positions Work around electrical power lines outside and inside Exposure to extreme temperatures Frequent districtwide travel Maintain emotional control under stress Ability to work alone Ability to keep information confidential DEADLINE TO
