Part time CLOSING SOON Apply for this job MARSHFIELD R-1 SCHOOL DISTRICT JOB DESCRIPTION Bus Driver QUALIFICATIONS: The Bus Driver shall be an experienced driver Must pass an annual physical, background check & drug testing Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Missouri School Bus Driver’s License and CDL Physical as required by Board Policy TERMS OF CONTRACT: As needed REPORT TO: Director of Transportation SUMMARY: Bus Drivers are responsible for transporting students to and from school in a safe and timely manner. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and abilities required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Transports students of all ages to and from school and extra-curricular activities in a safe and timely manner. Follows bus routes as written and approved by the Director of Transportation Manages student behavior and maintains discipline on the bus Keeps two-way radio on at all times that the bus is in operation Assists administrative personnel, teachers, and parents in promoting a positive relationship between the school, students and parents. Conducts and logs pre-trip inspections to check for cleanliness, safety, proper mechanical functions and adequate fuel level. Conducts trip inspections after each run to check for vandalism, cleanliness, lost articles and sleeping children. Observes rules, regulations and responsibilities affecting bus drivers contained in the Board policies and Transportation Handbook. Conducts safety inspections of the bus as defined by the Transportation Handbook and the Director of Transportation. Attends meetings in accordance with departmental requirements. Completes all required forms completely and promptly. Enforces Transportation Handbook rules and Board of Education policies for safe bus riding Reports any traffic violations observed to the Transportation Director Reports changes in route conditions to the Transportation Director as soon as possible Maintains a good record of attendance. Maintains the confidentiality of students’ discipline and medical records Keeps the bus clean Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Transportation Follows planned route on a time schedule Reports accidents immediately Follows ALL traffic laws, safety procedures, and transportation expectations. Supervisory Duties: Supervises students while on the bus Skills and Abilities: Language Read and comprehend bus routes, simple instructions, short correspondence and memos written in English. Communicate verbally in a clear and concise manner of the two-way radio. Write simple correspondence Communicate one on one and in small groups Maintain appropriate relationships with coworkers, parents and students Computation Ability to compute mathematic problems as needed in the maintenance department. Reasoning Comprehend and follow detailed but basic written or oral instructions Solve simple problems with few variables in stable conditions Physical Demands Frequently walk short distances Frequently climbs up and down stairs Able to assist students off and on the school bus as needed Able to quickly evacuate children from a school bus in emergency situations Requires bending, reaching, stooping, kneeling and mobility Able to lift up to fifty pounds to shoulder height Use close, distance and peripheral vision Able to hear to drive school bus while children are on board Attendance: Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this position Evaluation: Annual formative and summative evaluation conducted by the board of education.
