Job Description Job Title: Porter / Shop Assistant Department: Trucking Reports To: Operations Manager Exemption Status (FLSA): Hourly / Non - Exempt Job Summary: Supports the trucking dept by maintaining the cleanliness and condition of the trucks and garage areas keeping all areas of the shop and surrounding locations clean, organized, and free of safety hazards. Essential Functions: Wash exterior of fuel tankers Power wash and maintain cleanliness of wash bay including walls and floor Help maintain shop cleanliness and organization to include tools and supplies Move vehicles on the lot so they can be easily accessible Track vehicles that are scheduled for repair and help communicate to appropriate parties Assist mechanic with maintenance of vehicles, including picking up parts Assist in maintaining appearance of corporate office grounds Maintain a clean and safe work area in accordance with Corporate and OSHA standards Perform other duties as assigned Requirements: Must be 18 years of age or older Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license Class A CDL preferred Must be highly motivated and able to work independently with little supervision Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent Experience performing general maintenance; HVAC, plumbing, and/or electrical experience strongly preferred Physical Requirements: Ability to follow instructions and work independently, completing assigned tasks in a safe and timely manner Must be able to lift and move objects weighing up to 75 pounds Must be comfortable climbing ladders and working outdoors in all types of weather Ability to use power and hand tools While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position requires standing, walking, bending, stooping and reaching throughout the course of the shift. Frequent use of hands and fingers to handle or feel and reach. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
