The Senior Director of Supply Chain Software Engineering is a key strategic leader tasked with transforming the supply chain technology landscape from legacy systems to a cutting-edge digital platform. This role demands extensive expertise in scalable system design and architecture, with a strong emphasis on DevOps practices and agile methodologies. The ideal candidate will have a proven history of implementing enterprise-grade solutions, particularly within Blue Yonder Supply Chain Execution systems. In this role, the Senior Director will manage a team of Software Engineers and contractors overseeing the development of innovative software solutions that enhance operational capabilities across critical areas such as warehousing, demand and supply planning, transportation and logistics, and fleet management. By collaborating closely with executive leadership and cross-functional teams, this leader will define the technical strategy and lead the successful execution of high-quality software projects that manage over $1 billion in inventory across more than 75 distribution centers, as well as a fleet of 6,500 trucks and 7,000 drivers. Flexible Work Policy: The work for the Sr Director Supply Chain Engineering position is completely remote anywhere in the United States except Hawaii or United States Territories. RESPONSIBILITIES Transformational Leadership: Spearhead the transition from legacy COBOL-based systems to a modern cloud infrastructure utilizing advanced technologies. Technical Strategy Development: Collaborate with Supply Chain and Technology leaders to establish a comprehensive technical roadmap that aligns with business goals and enhances digital capabilities. Software Development Lifecycle Management: Establish, implement, and continuously improve software development lifecycle methodologies and technical standards to ensure quality, efficiency, and innovation. Agile Transformation: Lead an agile transformation within the organization, coaching product delivery teams on best practices, technical approaches, and impediment removal to enhance productivity and service levels. Performance Monitoring: Define and monitor KPIs to assess team velocity, system health, and application performance, implementing mechanisms for continuous improvement. Team Building and Mentorship: Hire, train, and mentor a high-performing team of software engineers and future leaders, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence. Vendor and Budget Management: Manage vendor relationships and oversee departmental P&L forecasting, ensuring alignment of operating and capital expenses with organizational objectives. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with other department leaders to ensure robust support models for all applications in the software portfolio, driving alignment with technical feasibility and long-term supportability. SUPERVISION: Oversee a team of 20+ direct reports and 20+ consultants, including Software Engineers and contractors. RELATIONSHIPS Internal: Engage with executive leadership, supply chain, digital and technology teams, transformation office, HR, finance, and legal departments. External: Manage relationships with technology vendors, consulting firms, and industry organizations. WORK ENVIRONMENT Remote: This role is fully remote, and the associate is expected to perform assigned responsibilities from a home-based environment. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 10 years of IT experience, including 5 years managing software engineering teams, with a proven track record leading large-scale agile software projects and full product lifecycle ownership. Demonstrated ability to think strategically across business, product, and technical areas, with a proven track record of navigating complex challenges. Proven experience recruiting, coaching, and developing software engineering talent and leaders, with a focus on creating an inclusive and high-performing work environment. Proven successful management of multiple projects using agile methodologies, with delivery of high-quality software solutions within tight deadlines. Proven experience working closely with cross-functional teams to foster collaboration and ensure alignment on project objectives, resulting in successful outcomes. Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate across all levels of management and influence decision-making. Travel 5 -10% for site visits as needed. EDUCATION Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business, or a related field or equivalent experience CERTIFICATIONS/TRAINING N/A LICENSES N/A PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Master’s degree Strong knowledge of scalable system design and architecture, DevOps practices, agile methodologies, telemetry, alerting, and test-driven development. Proficient in designing and supporting event-driven and microservice-based architectures, ensuring seamless integration and optimal performance. Expertise in continuous integration and continuous deployment practices, enhancing software delivery efficiency and reliability. Experienced in implementing robust telemetry and monitoring solutions for enterprise applications to ensure operational excellence. Knowledgeable in security governance, compliance frameworks (including SOX), and identity access management (IAM) and single sign-on (SSO) implementations. Familiar with ITIL frameworks and root cause analysis (RCA) management to enhance service delivery and support operations. Versatile in a range of web and mobile technologies, including Angular, Node.js, Kubernetes, and various database solutions (MongoDB, MySQL, Kafka, Oracle, MuleSoft). Experience leading the design, implementation, and support of a Tier 1 Warehouse Management System (preferably Blue Yonder Supply Chain Execution Systems), driving efficiency in complex supply chain processes. This role will also receive annual incentive plan bonus.
