CDL Driver

Description GENERAL DESCRIPTION The Sweeper Truck Driver operates a street sweeper to clean roadways, construction sites, parking lots, or other designated areas. Ideal candidates will have experience with heavy vehicle operation, effective time management, and possess a good mechanical aptitude. DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES Duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following : Operate sweeper truck along assigned routes to clean streets, curbs, sidewalks, and job sites Monitor and adjust sweeper equipment controls for optimum performance and coverage Inspect the vehicle before and after operation, reporting maintenance or repair needs promptly Remove debris, leaves, trash, and other materials from paved surfaces and gutters Maintain daily work logs, route sheets, and equipment reports Comply with all traffic laws, safety procedures, and company policies Assist with minor truck maintenance and cleaning when required Communicate effectively with supervisors and other team members Respond to emergency cleanup calls or off-hours assignments as needed All other duties as assigned Qualifications QUALITIFICATIONS Job qualifications may include, but are not limited to, the following : High school diploma or equivalent (preferred) Preferred Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL Class B or higher) with air brake endorsement Clean driving record Minimum 1–2 years of experience operating commercial vehicles or heavy equipment Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check Familiarity with job-related OSHA and DOT regulations SKILLS and ABILITIES Proficient in operating heavy vehicles (experience with operating street sweepers preferred) Excellent time management and route adherence Basic understanding of vehicle mechanics and hydraulic systems Physical stamina to perform manual tasks such as lifting debris, sweeping, or light maintenance Comfortable working in varying weather conditions and potentially dusty environments Ability to assist in changing tires and perform basic roadside repairs Ability to lift 50 lbs without restrictions WORK ENVIRONMENT This position requires driving and working outdoors in all weather conditions. The role may involve early morning or night shifts, overtime, and occasional weekend or holiday work depending on operational needs.
