Carteret Community College is accepting applications for a part-time CDL/Truck Driving Instructor to conduct classes during day, evenings and/or weekends. Apply online at https://www.governmentjobs.com/careers/carteretcc/ The CLD/Truck Driving training program teaches proper driving procedures, safe driver responsibility, commercial motor vehicle laws and regulations, and the basic principles and practices for operating commercial vehicles. The program also administers CDL (commercial driver’s license) testing to the students. Instructors will provide instruction in motor vehicle laws and regulations, map reading, vehicle maintenance, safety procedures, daily logs, defensive driving, freight handling, security, and fire protection. Instructors will use highway driving, training range exercises, and classroom lectures to develop the student’s knowledge and skills. Duties include: Conduct training classes for commercial vehicles, providing theory and practical applications for classes in Commercial Motor Vehicles. Use established training materials to present formal class training exercises and lab work to students. Provide training in policy and procedures in compliance with all local, state and federal rules, regulations and laws. Use established training materials to present training exercises and practice in preparing students to safely operate a commercial motor vehicle. Provide hands-on training in Vehicle Inspection, Skills/ Maneuvers, Range and Road Driving Skills required to meet and or exceed requirements needed to successfully pass the NCDMV Commercial Driver's License Test. Minimum Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications: Must hold a valid Class A North Carolina Commercial Driver's License with Hazmat, Tanker, and Doubles endorsements preferred High School Diploma or equivalent required. Able to comply with Department of Transportation Medical Requirements A certificate from an accredited driving program or specialized training at the level required to meet professional preparation of the assigned area of instruction. Five years of over the road (OTR) experience Preferred Qualification: *One or more years of experience in an instructional setting is preferred Job offers are conditional subject to a successful criminal background check.
